The Interiors at Ballilogue.
At Ballilogue we consider carefully the architectural light filled interiors to create the feeling of an elegant, contemporary and comfortable series of homes. This includes details like the comfort of the beds, the art on the walls, the quality of the toiletries and the objects that make up your surroundings. We work with the spaces to give the houses their own aesthetic and character. There is already a charm and tradition to the restored Kilkenny granite exteriors of the big Farmhouse, the Old Dairy, the Barn and the Lodge with vistas of gardens, orchard, the surrounding countryside and the strong modernist architecture that connects the interiors.
Our Considered Collection.
The choice of Irish art and books on Architecture, Design, Photography and Gardening all engage the senses as do the careful and considered perrenial and wildflower planting in the gardens. The comfort of pocket sprung Irish made beds, egyptian cotton bedlinen and organic seaweed Irish toiletries from Voya on Ireland's Atlantic rugged coast as well as quality robes and fluffy designer towels we hope all add to the sense of wellbeing.
Designer Makers and their Craft.
Working with a selected group of talented designer-makers we've commissioned handwoven blankets for the beds, cushions for the sofas, hand thrown ceramics as installations on oak tables, fireplace mantels and Italian sideboards as well as hand woven rugs in bedrooms and willow woven baskets on the dining tables.
Selected Craft Makers at Ballilogue.
From West Cork to Donegal, Kilkenny to Waterford, Pembrokeshire to Cornwall we've selected those Celtic artisan makers with a design edge and passion about their craft! Many of the ceramics are hand built and salt fired one-off pieces, the character and hues never to be repeated, the rugs and blankets hand woven and knotted, the luxury and quality are part of the uniqueness of a connection to the natural world and the talent of the individual maker.
It runs through Ballilogue, this considered celebration of tradition, in the buildings, the gardens, the interior design, the art, books and objects that surround you and of course, in the preservation of Mrs. Meaney's home, the pre-famine Cottage Museum.
We share and provide a forum and outlet for the work of these designer-makers in the small but very special Design and Craft Shop at Ballilogue so you too can take home or have us send a blanket, a cushion, a woven basket, a knitted scarf or a hand thrown mug or bowl. Something from fantastic craft people like Marcus O Mahony, Studio Donegal, Freda Rupp, Leach Pottery and Melin Tregwynt. Perhaps a Ballilogue tea towel or honey from the Hamlet?
It's the fun of exploring the selection, designs, craft, colour and texture!
Gifting Crafted Treasures.
