We move towards the close of another year, cooler nights and shorter days and thoughts turn to celebration with family and friends. Time to retreat, imagining the warmth of fires and wood burning stoves, surrounded by special people in places with walks perhaps and festivities planned to mark another year ....time for holidays, Christmas!!

The change of season brings a new approach to living and dressing...treasures such as beautiful blankets, woollens and soft warm cashmere scarves bought or taken from their summer hiding to embrace and envelop for the months ahead. Thoughts too turn to gifting, ideas for the holidays, special birthdays and Christmas for loved ones. Finding that special gift that lasts, will be treasured, worn, remembered, it's provenance appreciated.

It's why at Ballilogue, the award winning Retreat in the Irish countryside, we've developed our special gift Collection both on-line and for Ballilogue private guests the Craft and Design Shop on site.

It's inspired by the our favourite Celtic Craft makers, their ethos an inspiration to us at Ballilogue. It's where tradition and style go hand in hand in the living spaces making it a home from home for so many in the privacy of the Kilkenny countryside close to beautiful Inistioge in the heart of Ireland's Ancient East.

As well as quirky designed objects there are commissioned and selected work from artisans that are woven, hand built, embossed and knitted becoming treasured pieces to wear, drape over sofas, beds and objects to admire. The feel and touch a reminder of the skill and craftsmanship, the ideas and design, the execution and the beauty. Different, special, often unique and one-off pieces from those whose skills are honed over years, perfecting their art and craft.

Exquisite luxury blankets, throws and cushions, often double-faced and patterned from Studio Donegal and Melin Tregwynt , woven on hand looms that have done so for generations, a tradition passed down with a design ethos influenced by the Wild Atlantic Way and the beautiful Welsh hills. The original Whiskey tumblers are hand blown by Jerpoint Glass in their Kilkenny Studio, Sue Ure's minimal hand-built vessels, notebooks hand bound in Italian vellum and hand woven patterned cloth, baskets from willows grown in West Cork and the patterned Ballilogue Tea Towel sets from the tradition of a stone Hamlet to keep, gift or frame.

These are just some of the special gifts that adorn beds, sofas, tables and alcoves in the stylish Ballilogue, shipped to your home or gifted to a loved one. The Ballilogue Gift Voucher too, customised for a stay, the shop or a private dining experience. A beautiful thought, a Christmas gift that allows for imagination and possibilities at the Ballilogue Hamlet in the year ahead.

Welcome to the Ballilogue Gift Guide. We hope you find something you love that will be treasured for years to come.
