Private Luxury Vacation Rental
At Ballilogue, the private luxury vacation rental in the Kilkenny countryside, we’re often asked about our top recommendations for a family getaway or a friends get together exploring Ireland. With this in mind we created a guide and added it to the Ballilogue website. ‘4 Perfect Days in Ireland’ explores Ireland’s Ancient East with Ballilogue as your Irish private rental. Depending on the group’s vacation goals, here are some of the highlights and suggestions of what makes for a memorable holiday in Ireland.
Wicklow and Kilkenny City
Head south from Dublin to Ballilogue through the Wicklow mountains, visiting Glendalough and its ancient monastic settlement. Stop in Kilkenny city to visit Kilkenny Castle and the National Craft Gallery with lunch at the Kilkenny Design Centre. Heading south, stop off at Jerpoint Abbey in Thomastown and the pretty village of Inistioge with its walks along the Nore river and the gardens at Woodstock. A pint of Guinness too perhaps in O'Donnell’s Pub! Perfect.
Closeby, in the beautiful Kilkenny countryside is Ballilogue your private luxury vacation rental nestled in mature gardens and with buildings that date back to 1750 including the pre- famine Mrs. Meaney's Cottage all built by craftsmasons in Kilkenny stone. Relax in the Hamlet houses which are contemporary modern spaces with Egyptian cotton bedlinen and Voya organic toiletries as well as Irish made beds. Dining, transport, music and a warm Irish welcome are all part of what Ballilogue has to offer friends, families and wedding guests.
With Ballilogue as your base explore Ireland! Take a trip to Waterford to see the world famous Waterford Crystal, Museums and why not have a round of golf at Waterford Castle? A visit to Wexford Opera Festival perhaps too and on the return to Ballilogue see the homestead of JFK and the Dunbrody Famine Museum. A supper one evening at Mannion's gastro pub in New Ross.
Closeby are the villages of St. Mullins, Inistioge and Graiguenamanagh. All are perfect for activities. Walks, rambles, guided hikes, biking, rowing and canoeing on the rivers Barrow and Nore. Breathtaking scenery along the way and it’s what makes Ireland’s Ancient East so very special!
